Experienced tutors providing high quality tuition
All subjects
In recent years, revision courses have become increasingly popular. A large number of these, of variable quality, are now available. We run intensive courses run over the Easter vacation, which can give a much needed boost at a crucially important time. The tutors are knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic, and typically, our A and AS level courses involve five days of intensive study and examination practice. GCSE courses tend to be shorter. All our courses have several important features.
Reinforcement of knowledge and understanding
Our teachers are skilled in teaching their subjects. Key points of the syllabus are explained in a clear and effective way, so students attain a deeper appreciation of important facts and principles.
Development of examination technique
Unfortunately, knowledge of the material is not enough. That knowledge has to be applied to the requirements of the examination. We know what the examiners are looking for! Through constant practice and feedback, we will train students to strive for the type of high quality answers which will get them those elusive marks.
A plan of action for every student
It is possible to get through a great deal of material in five days. Some topics will be covered in depth. With some others, we will simply hammer home the main points. We will place a great deal of emphasis on the need to apply the knowledge to produce excellent answers. However, it will not be possible to get through everything. For us, a crucial part of the course will be to devise with each student a personalised study and revision plan for the weeks ahead. This will be based on an assessment of what is needed, on his or her, own circumstances, and on the methods, which work best for that particular individual. In this way, the benefits of the course will continue to accumulate all the way up to the examination.
