Mediocre AS results?

OUR AS REPAIR PROGRAMMES

Many students underachieve at AS level. If you are in that position, the situation is not actually as hopeless as it seems. You still have a year to go and - if that year is used effectively - you can still end up with excellent A-levels.

We offer a specially structured programme of tuition - the AS repair programme - designed to help you achieve exactly that. These AS repair programmes are available to school students in Oxfordshire and the surrounding area.

What is involved?

- You continue with your A2 year at school as normal

- Alongside that you come to us for a tutorial one evening a week after school

- This is supplemented by one-to-one sessions to iron out specific problems

- Further support is given through a small number of revision sessions at the weekend or during school holidays which last the whole day

- There is plenty of practice in answering examination style questions

- Progress is monitored and parents kept informed.

What then?

The AS repair programme runs from September to January, during which time we ensure that students substantially improve their knowledge and understanding of the AS material, as well as their examination technique. Some or all AS units will need to be retaken. This will ideally be in January but may be in June, depending on the situation of the student and the policy of the school with respect to retakes. This is something we would discuss with the student at the beginning, and we can give expert advice.

It is not compulsory, but most people then decide to arrange something similar from January to June to cover the A2 material.

Student comments

Thanks so much for all the work you both put in with all the extra lessons. It really paid off especially with biology coming from a C to an A, rescuing my maths which could have been a disaster and pushing on my chemistry…
Rose, Thame
Rose obtained BCC at AS level. She attended AS repair lessons, then decided to carry on having lessons until June. She ended up with AAB for her A-levels.

I am absolutely sure that I would never have been able to get an A in Maths without your tuition so I really want to thank you for all you help and patience! I hope you (and all the other tutors) are well and that you are happy to hear this news.
Daisy, Oxford
Daisy obtained a grade C in maths at AS level. After attending our AS repair classes, and having further lessons until June, she achieved a grade A in the full A-level (it would actually have been an A* if that grade had existed back then).
