Intensive UKCAT preparation course

"A thousand thanks for all your hard work, which has resulted in such an improvement over what we were expecting today! Anne-Marie has worked very hard, and was full of confidence, but you helped her put it all together. I was completely thrilled to hear how much improved her scores were over the first scores she obtained at school. We are so much more confident that she will get some good medical schools interviewing her now, and that you have really opened the doors for her future career. It means so much to her to be able to pursue her dream"

Mrs B, Oxford

The United Kingdom Clinical Aptitude Test - or UKCAT - is an online test which must be taken by applicants for the majority of medicine courses and many dentistry courses at British universities. If you are taking the UKCAT, a good performance is likely to be crucial to your chances of obtaining a place on your preferred course.

The UKCAT does not focus on factual knowledge but is designed to test a range of mental abilities. It is made up of several subtests designed to test different cognitive skills. There is also a situational judgement subtest which is designed to assess certain non-cognitive attributes and is marked in a different way.

Extremely able A-level students sometimes do not appreciate that the UKCAT assesses a different set of skills, and they can therefore end up doing poorly in it. This is one of the reasons people sometimes say it "measures natural ability" so "you can't prepare for it". This belief is widespread but it is a misconception. It is certainly possible to prepare for the UKCAT but it involves learning and mastering new skills.

Our intensive UKCAT preparation course is designed to help you do exactly that.

The course lasts five days, during which students receive around 30 hours of tuition. We believe this to be the highest number of class contact hours of any UKCAT preparation course in the country. This enables us not only to explain each subtest and go through strategies for tackling it, but also to practice the techniques involved on a large number of questions and develop real expertise. During the week we will be looking at literally hundreds of typical UKCAT-style questions, as well as other important issues such as time management.

Students are tutored in a small groups. The class starts at 9.00am each day and finishes at 5.00pm. There will be a lunch break, together with other breaks for tea or coffee.

We can arrange accommodation in Oxford if required. This is arranged and billed separately once a student has registered for the course.

This year's UKCAT course will be from Monday 14th August to Friday 18th August.

The course fee (excluding accommodation) is £720.

To enrol for the UKCAT preparation course email leaving name and contact details (email address and phone number) of student and/or parents and we will be in touch to make arrangements.
